In a friendly letter, there are five (5) parts:
Heading
The heading includes the date and YOUR address.
Greeting
Greetings in a friendly letter can be informal. Examples:
“Dear Harry,”
“Dearest Hermione,”
“To the handsome Ron Weasley,”
Use a COMMA, after your recipient’s name.
Body
You can be more freewheeling in the body of a friendly letter, but good grammar and punctuation counts!
Complimentary Close
Use the same complimentary closes as in the business letter. You can also get more flowery. Examples:
Love,
Love always,
Your favorite wizard,
Your poopsiedoo,
Remember, not every audience is appropriate for every complimentary close!
Signature
Same as in the business letter. You should use blue or black ink.
Question: What part is missing from the friendly letter that is present in the business letter?
